How to add the Linear MCP server to Claude (web and desktop)

Sign-in: We tested it with an access token sent as an Authorization: Bearer header. The vendor also offers OAuth sign-in, which we did not test.
Our hands-on result: Works 16 of 16 tasks passed, tested Oct 17, 2026 with MCP TypeScript SDK (reference client).

Claude setup

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector.
  2. Name it app-linear-linear and paste the URL: https://mcp.linear.app/mcp
  3. Claude custom connectors take a URL, not a custom header. Click Add, then Connect, and use the vendor OAuth sign-in (not tested by us), or use the token route in Claude Code below.
  4. Start a new chat and turn the connector on from the tools menu.

We ran the hands-on test in a reference client, not in Claude. This config follows Claude's documented format for remote (Streamable HTTP) servers. If it fails for you, tell us and we will retest.
