How to add the Langfuse Docs MCP server to VS Code (GitHub Copilot)
Server URL: https://langfuse.com/api/mcp
Sign-in: No sign-in. Paste the URL and it connects.
Our hands-on result: Partial 6 of 7 tasks passed, tested Oct 16, 2026 with MCP TypeScript SDK (reference client).
VS Code setup
File: .vscode/mcp.json
{
"servers": {
"langfuse-docs": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://langfuse.com/api/mcp"
}
}
}- Save the file and click Start above the server entry. VS Code asks you to trust the server.
- No sign-in is needed.
We ran the hands-on test in a reference client, not in VS Code. This config follows VS Code's documented format for remote (Streamable HTTP) servers. If it fails for you, tell us and we will retest.
Known problems and fixes
- MCP tool results too large: context window blown by one call
- MCP search returns results for nonsense queries
Same server, other clients
- Langfuse Docs MCP in Claude
- Langfuse Docs MCP in Claude Code
- Langfuse Docs MCP in Cursor
- Langfuse Docs MCP in ChatGPT
