How to add the Sanity MCP server to Cursor
Server URL: https://mcp.sanity.io
Sign-in: We tested it with an access token sent as an Authorization: Bearer header. The vendor also offers OAuth sign-in, which we did not test.
Our hands-on result: Works 18 of 18 tasks passed, tested Oct 17, 2026 with MCP TypeScript SDK (reference client).
Cursor setup
File: ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or .cursor/mcp.json in a project)
{
"mcpServers": {
"sanity": {
"url": "https://mcp.sanity.io",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer ${env:SANITY_API_TOKEN}"
}
}
}
}- Save the file. The server shows a green dot in Cursor Settings, then MCP.
We ran the hands-on test in a reference client, not in Cursor. This config follows Cursor's documented format for remote (Streamable HTTP) servers. If it fails for you, tell us and we will retest.
Same server, other clients
