How to add the Tavily docs MCP server to Claude Code

Our hands-on result: Partial 5 of 6 tasks passed, tested Oct 17, 2026 with MCP TypeScript SDK (reference client).

Claude Code setup

claude mcp add --transport http tavily-docs https://docs.tavily.com/mcp
  1. Run the command, then run claude mcp get tavily-docs to confirm it connected.

We ran the hands-on test in a reference client, not in Claude Code. This config follows Claude Code's documented format for remote (Streamable HTTP) servers. If it fails for you, tell us and we will retest.
