DeepWiki: task by task
- Works connect (no auth) (687 ms)
- Works list wiki structure (modelcontextprotocol/typescript-sdk) (182 ms)
- Works ask a question (connect a client to Streamable HTTP) (14.7 s)
- Works read full wiki (vercel/next.js) (1.0 s)
- Works unknown repo (168 ms)
- Works error handling (malformed args) (91 ms)
DeepWiki gotchas
- Answers are good but slow: about 15 s for one question. Set a generous tool timeout.
- read_wiki_contents returns the whole wiki in one response (about 1 MB for next.js). That will blow past most context windows. Use read_wiki_structure or ask_wiki_question instead.
- Unindexed repos return an error that points you to deepwiki.com to index them first.
- Validation errors are raw Pydantic output with links to errors.pydantic.dev, which is noisy for an agent to read.

Perplexity Docs: task by task
- Works connect (no auth) (671 ms)
- Works list tools (295 ms)
- Works search docs ("sonar API search_domain_filter") (803 ms)
- Works browse docs filesystem (ls /) (201 ms)
- Partial search with nonsense query (1.4 s)
- Works error handling (number as query) (152 ms)
Perplexity Docs gotchas
- Search results are large (about 63 KB for one query).
- A nonsense query still returns unrelated docs instead of an empty result, so an agent cannot tell "nothing found" from a weak match.
