How to add the Hugging Face MCP server to Cursor

Sign-in: No sign-in. Paste the URL and it connects.
Our hands-on result: Works 6 of 6 tasks passed, tested Oct 16, 2026 with MCP TypeScript SDK (reference client).

Cursor setup

File: ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or .cursor/mcp.json in a project)

Save the file. The server shows a green dot in Cursor Settings, then MCP.

Anonymous use works but warns about rate limits. Add a free Hugging Face token for heavier use.

We ran the hands-on test in a reference client, not in Cursor. This config follows Cursor's documented format for remote (Streamable HTTP) servers. If it fails for you, tell us and we will retest.
