How to add the GitMCP for Next.js MCP server to Claude (web and desktop)

Claude setup

1. Open Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector.
2. Name it gitmcp-nextjs and paste the URL: https://gitmcp.io/vercel/next.js
3. Click Add. No sign-in is needed.
4. Start a new chat and turn the connector on from the tools menu.

We ran the hands-on test in a reference client, not in Claude. This config follows Claude's documented format for remote (Streamable HTTP) servers. If it fails for you, tell us and we will retest.

Known problems and fixes

• MCP tool results too large: context window blown by one call
• MCP tool call times out on slow servers
• MCP search returns results for nonsense queries
