How to add the GitMCP for Next.js MCP server to Claude Code

Claude Code setup

claude mcp add --transport http gitmcp-nextjs https://gitmcp.io/vercel/next.js

1. Run the command, then run claude mcp get gitmcp-nextjs to confirm it connected.

We ran the hands-on test in a reference client, not in Claude Code. This config follows Claude Code's documented format for remote (Streamable HTTP) servers. If it fails for you, tell us and we will retest.

Known problems and fixes

• MCP tool results too large: context window blown by one call
• MCP tool call times out on slow servers
• MCP search returns results for nonsense queries
