How to add the GitMCP (generic docs endpoint) MCP server to Claude Code

Claude Code setup

claude mcp add --transport http gitmcp https://gitmcp.io/docs

1. Run the command, then run claude mcp get gitmcp to confirm it connected.

We ran the hands-on test in a reference client, not in Claude Code. This config follows Claude Code's documented format for remote (Streamable HTTP) servers. If it fails for you, tell us and we will retest.

Known problems and fixes

• MCP tool call times out on slow servers
• GitMCP returns "No documentation found."
