GitHub MCP issue_write shows a form and creates nothing
Error: issue_write returns a tool error and no issue is created
What causes it
issue_write is an MCP Apps interactive form. Called as a plain tool, it returns the form instead of creating the issue.
How to fix it
- Use a client with MCP Apps support and submit the form. In MCP Inspector that is the Apps tab, which created the issue in our test.
- Clients without MCP Apps support cannot create issues through this tool.
