Gotchas
- MCP Inspector (reference client): No dynamic client registration, so you must create a Slack app. In its Agents settings turn on "Enable Slack MCP Server". Only internal or Marketplace apps qualify.
- MCP Inspector (reference client): resources/templates/list returns an error.
- MCP Inspector (reference client): The search tool needs both keywords and natural_language_query. Semantic search is unavailable on the free plan.
- MCP Inspector (reference client): The app UI only offers search:read, while the docs list granular search:read.* scopes. The server requests about 33 scopes on connect and Slack grants them.
- MCP Inspector (reference client): Posts appear as the user, tagged "Sent using <app>". There is no delete-message tool.
